It's starting to look very likely that Apple is planning to release a 12.9-inch iPad Pro in the near future, but we're not entirely convinced by the latest rumour.
Digitimes is quoting word from "the upsteam supply chain" that there are two versions of the super-size iPad in the pipeline. One of those will be the standard 12.9-incher, while the other will be a device that runs both iOS and OS X.
Now, Digitimes says it's uncertain whether Apple will put both devices on the market or not, but mass production of at least one of them is expected to start in early 2015.
OS X 10.10 Yosemite brings Apple's desktop and mobile operating systems closer together than ever, but OS X would still need a lot of work to make it work on a tablet. And considering Apple's previous comments on two-in-one devices, it seems an odd move for Tim Cook to make.
We're expecting Apple to hold its 2014 iPad event on October 16. We may see an iPad Pro or we may not, but there's a chance that the company could pull another Apple Watch and announce the product well before it's actually available.
