The iPad Air 2 is expected to launch on 16 October, and new leaks suggest Apple is going to try to flog us the thing as the "thinnest tablet" yet.
These leaks come from claimed, but unnamed, sources within Apple, and suggest that a tweaked design and new screen lamination process will let the iPad Air 2 get up to 0.5mm thinner than the current one.
The iPad Air we know and love today is 7.5mm thick, suggesting we could get right down to a size 0-style 7mm later this month.
It's the construction style that enables this, with the top glass layer and display parts of the screen produced as a single unit, rather than being made separately and jammed together later. The screen rotation lock has also gone, freeing up more space.
C-C-C-C-Changes
Other than thickness, the two iPad Air generations are said to look pretty similar. The speakers have been redesigned, the microphones moved and the Touch ID scanner is reportedly finally making its way to iPads.
But Apple hasn't made any eyebrow-raising moves if we are to believe these leaks. Should we?
The iPad Air 2 details reportedly came with a bunch of as-yet-unpublished pictures that have been left out in order to protect the sources' identities. Perhaps they photo-bombed every shot.
With just over a week to go until the rumoured 16 October launch event, there's not too long to wait to find out the truth.
